Crystabelle's Cravings

Hi everyone, Crystabelle here!

I will be giving you restaurant reviews for my contribution to Outsiders Place! I wanted to start with one I went to with my boyfriend last weekend called Perla in Passyunk Square.

If you are looking for a unique and flavorful dining experience Perla is the perfect place. It is a Filipino family-style restaurant offering a prix fixe menu with dishes that are meant to be shared. The staff is extra friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable about the menu. If you are having issues making a choice just ask and they are happy to make any recommendations or answer any questions you might have. The space is cozy and intimate making it perfect for a date night! The food is outstanding and though it is prix fixe they change it up regularly.

Some of the standout dishes include the crispy pork belly, the whole grilled fish and the spicy fried chicken. The portions are generous, and each dish is packed with flavor and spices. You eat with your hands which adds to the fun and communal experience! One thing to note, however, is the food can be quite spicy. I dared my boyfriend to eat a Thai chili pepper, he didn’t know it was going to be so spicy it brought tears to his eyes. Please, make sure you ask your server about the level of spice in each dish if you have a low tolerance for heat. Overall I highly recommend Perla for anyone looking for an exciting and flavorful experience in the city. The staff are friendly, the atmosphere cozy and the food is to die for, just be prepared for some heat if you aren’t used to spicy food.
